Zlatko Hrbić tournament

History

Professor Zlatko Hrbić was one of the best boxers in lightweight, welterweight and middleweight category. He is a repeated winner of several Zagreb and Croatian championships, a permanent member of National Boxing Team, and a winner of a boxing championship in former Yugoslavia. During his 13-year boxing career, he participated in 217 bouts, some of them abroad. He achieved 170 victories against the most distinguished opponents in the country as well as abroad.

Upon termination of his career, not only did he become one of the most successful boxing coaches, but he also founded numerous boxing clubs across Croatia, as well as the first school of boxing.

He was active in many cities, clubs and forums. He was also engaged as a referee, which contributed to his rich experience. Professor Zlatko Hrbić, an impressive boxing doyen, one of the best boxing coaches, lecturer and a distinguished expert in boxing, contributed a lot to the development of boxing sport, not only in Zagreb and Croatia, but also abroad, with many valuable years of his devoted work. This is why the Croatian Boxing Federation established the Memorial International Boxing Tournament, as a token of gratitude for his efforts and dedicated work over the past 60 years.
